We had our annual Oktoberfest party and potluck, plus our Festbier/Marzen club competition. Thanks to everyone who contributed food and the wide assortment of Festbiers.
Congrats to Ben K for his winning Festbier in our club competition. 2nd and 3rd place were only a few points off from each other, but Ben’s Festbier was the overwhelming winner. Ben gets to hold onto the traveling mash paddle trophy until the next competition.

Some topics we covered at the meeting included:
No meeting on Wednesday – The Oktoberfest party took place of our normal 3rd Wednesday meeting, so we won’t have one on the 18th.
Social Night – Our next social night will be Wednesday November 1st @ 6pm at the SFBC Brakeroom (510 Galisteo Street). Bring friends, family members, coworkers, etc and come by any time around 6 to hang out for as long or as little as you’d like. The Bang Bite food truck will be there if you want to grab dinner or a snack.
November Meeting – We’ll have our next monthly meeting on Wednesday November 15th at 6:30pm. It’s the week before Thanksgiving, so there shouldn’t be any real conflicts with holiday travel. We don’t have a location yet, so if you want to host please let us know. I can also reach back out to SFBC and see if we can start using the Party Room again if there aren’t conflicts with karaoke night.
Next Club Competition – We’ll plan on having our next club competition in January 2024 and the style will be lower ABV Brittish beers – BJCP 2021 categories Ordinary Bitter (11A), Best Bitter (11B), or Dark Mild (13A)
Custom Club AHA Renewal
I signed us up for the AHA referral program which gives our club a $5 kickback whenever someone joins or renews their membership through our custom link and enters SDCCB as the code. If you’ve let your membership lapse or haven’t signed up before, I’d encourage you to do so. You can find our custom URL here: https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/support-the-aha/?promo=Sangre-de-Cristo-Craft-Brewers (note: you will still need to enter SDCCB as the code when you’re at that point in the sign up process).

- Ben: The Fest (competition entry), Campanology (Trader Joes) Imperial Stout
